Update on Myself

As I sit here watching overtime of the Chick-Fil-A Bowl and waiting for 2008 to arrive, I was thinking about posting an update on what’s going on in my life so that if any of my friends I’ve lost touch with stumble across my blog, you’ll know what is up with me. However, the fact is, not a whole lot has changed in my life recently. Unless it’s been more than 7 or 8 years since I last talked to you, then you probably already have a pretty good idea of what’s going on in my life. But, I do have a few things I’d like to mention that some of you who find my blog might not know.

One the most significant changes in my life is that my grandmother (mom’s mother) passed away in October 2006 following a stroke. Many of you have sampled her Christmas goodies over the years. We miss her very much, and things aren’t the same without her.

Another big change that most of you probably know is that I was laid off from my job at Charter around 5 years ago now. Finding Information Technology jobs in this area isn’t the easiest thing to do, but fortunately I got a job in the I.T. Department at the Kingsport Times-News, where I have been for close to 4 years.

There’s one more thing that I hadn’t planned on mentioning here, but if I’m listing the most significant changes in my life, then it wouldn’t be right to leave this out. I don’t think anyone other than a very few friends and family members know this. Here it is – I admit that I’ve gotten away from going to Church the past few years. Other than taking part in a couple of Christmas plays and attending a Christmas Eve service or two, I haven’t been to Church in around 3 years. I’m not posting this because I’m proud of it; as a matter of fact, I’m not sure why I’m mentioning it at all. Maybe I’m hoping that talking about it will spur some discussion that will help me sort some things out. Well, it only took me one post to stray away from the idea of not talking about anything deep on my blog, didn’t it?

I think that covers the major changes in my life. Everything else is pretty much as it has been for the past 8 years or so. I still live in the same place, enjoy the same things, and so forth.

Welcome to Brent’s Blog!

Well, I’ve finally started a blog.  The start of a new year seems like a good time to do it.  I’m not necessarily planning to discuss any deep thoughts here; I just thought blogging would be a fun thing to do and another way to keep my friends up to date on what’s going on with me.  I’ll probably post movie and restaurant reviews, and things like that, as well.
